Aidan Barry
Born on the 18th of June, 1997, Aidan lives with phocomelia major, vision impairment, hearing challenges, complex congenital cardiac failure, and haemochromatosis. Due to upper limb limitations, Aidan primarily paints using his mouth, though he can also use his feet!
Aidan is currently studying Secondary School Teaching at the University of Adelaide, specialising in English and History. He's been recognised for academic excellence with the Alastair McEwin Scholarship, the Sir Charles Bright Scholarship, and membership in the International Golden Key Society.
An avid sports enthusiast, Aidan has also been passionate about art from a young age. This creative journey was encouraged by his Nanna, especially after sadly being excluded from art classes in high school due to his disability. It was Nanna who inspired him to return to painting post-school. Aidan's mother Bernadette, also a Mouth & Foot Painting Artist, laid the foundation for his artistic journey within the MFPA community.
After reconnecting with art through the Changing Canvas studio and developing a personal style with the guidance of art tutors, Aidan gained the confidence to paint independently. Aidan now prefers private instruction and continues to hone his distinctive artistic voice in his back shed / home studio. Much of Aidan's inspiration comes from the natural beauty of South Australia and the local landscape.
