Card No. 2622 | Night Garden | Alberto Álvarez

A single candle glows in the dark, surrounded by a cascade of blue, pink and violet blossoms that seem to drift and sparkle through the night air. Night Garden captures the quiet warmth of candlelight at Christmas, painted in loose, joyful brushstrokes against a deep indigo sky.

A gentle, modern alternative to traditional Christmas designs, it suits Christmas and New Year greetings alike, and anyone who'd love a moment of calm in the festive rush. Blank inside for your own message, with envelope included. $2.55 each, with bulk discounts available and the option to have your cards personalised.

Born with cerebral palsy, Alberto Álvarez began painting with his mouth at 16. A year later he held his first exhibition and soon won the A.L.P.I. State Prize. Entirely self-taught in oils, he has exhibited widely and earned national and international acclaim, including a special prize presented at the Casa Rosada, the seat of the Argentine government.

Alberto has travelled the world exhibiting, giving live painting demonstrations and sharing the work of artists who paint without the use of their hands. A keen linguist with translation studies in English and German, he has also explored Sumi-E ink painting, graphite, watercolour and porcelain painting.

Every card is reproduced from an original painting by a mouth or foot painting artist. Your purchase supports their creative work and independent livelihood. Self-help, not charity.
